What services does Precious Steel provide?
Precious Steel provides breakdown towing, accident vehicle transport, classic and collector car transport, project and non-running vehicle transport, planned vehicle transport and secure indoor vehicle storage.
Where is Precious Steel based?
We are based in Stanmore Bay and provide towing throughout Whangaparāoa, the Hibiscus Coast and North Shore. Vehicle transport across greater Auckland is available by arrangement.
What are your operating hours?
We are open from 6am to 7pm, seven days a week. Availability depends on Allan’s current jobs, travel time and your location.
Can I receive a quote before booking?
Yes. Call Allan or complete our online towing quote form with your vehicle details, collection address and destination. You will receive a clear quote before the job is confirmed.
What areas do you provide towing in?
We regularly provide towing throughout Stanmore Bay, Whangaparāoa, Gulf Harbour, Army Bay, Manly, Tindalls Bay, Arkles Bay, Red Beach, Silverdale, Millwater, Orewa and the wider Hibiscus Coast.
North Shore and greater Auckland vehicle transport is available by arrangement.
Can you tow a vehicle that won’t start?
Yes. If your vehicle will not start or cannot be driven safely, we can transport it to your home, mechanic, repairer or another agreed location. We do not currently provide roadside jump-starts or emergency fuel delivery.
Do you provide accident towing?
Yes. If the damaged vehicle can be safely accessed and loaded, we can transport it to your home, repairer, panel beater or secure storage.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
Our tilt-tray truck may be suitable for everyday cars, SUVs, 4WDs, utes, light commercial vehicles, classic and collector cars, prestige vehicles, project cars and non-running vehicles.
Suitable ride-on mowers and light machinery may also be transported by arrangement. Allan will confirm whether the vehicle or equipment can be safely loaded and carried.
How quickly can you reach me?
Response times depend on your location, traffic and Allan’s current schedule. When you call, Allan will give you the most accurate expected arrival time available.
Do I need to remain with the vehicle?
Not always. Key collection or remote vehicle access may be possible by prior arrangement. Discuss the location and access with Allan before the job is confirmed.
Can you collect vehicles from difficult driveways or private properties?
Possibly. Access must be assessed according to the driveway, available space, vehicle condition and safe positioning of the tow truck. Explain the access conditions when you call and provide photographs if requested.
How much does towing cost?
Pricing depends on the collection and delivery locations, distance, vehicle type, vehicle condition, access and any special loading requirements.

Vehicle Storage
What types of vehicles can you store?
We provide secure indoor storage for classic, collector, prestige, project and everyday vehicles. Contact Allan if you are unsure whether your vehicle is suitable.
Is the storage facility secure?
Yes. Vehicles are kept inside our secure Whangaparāoa storage facility, which has CCTV and restricted access.
Do you offer short-term and long-term storage?
Yes. Short-term and longer-term storage options are available, subject to space. Contact Allan to discuss your preferred dates and current availability.
How much does vehicle storage cost?
Current storage pricing is shown on our Vehicle Storage page. Contact Allan to confirm availability, pricing and any requirements specific to your vehicle.
Can I access my vehicle while it is stored?
Access can be arranged in advance. Please contact Allan before visiting so your vehicle can be made available for you.
Do you maintain vehicles while they are stored?
Depending on your storage arrangement, complimentary services may include battery maintenance and periodic vehicle start-ups. Allan will confirm what is included before storage begins.
How do I arrange vehicle storage?
Contact Precious Steel with your vehicle details and preferred storage dates. Allan will confirm availability and discuss the most appropriate storage arrangement.
